Creedence Clearwater Revival was formed in 1967 by John Fogerty, Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook, and Doug Clifford after previous projects under the names "the blue Velvets" and "The Golliwogs". The band took their name from a friend of the band's drummer, whose name was Credence Nuball. Creedence Clearwater Revival had some early success with singles such as "Susie Q" and "I Put A Spell On You". However it wasn't until the release of their third album that they hit mainstream success with "Bad Moon Rising" off the album "Green River". The band's next album "Willy And The Poor Boys" saw commercial success for Creedence Clearwater Revival with hits like "Fortunate Son", "Down on The Corner".
